Every 17III Fellow contributes directly to live projects that align capital with systemic challenges.

Our workstreams span public and private markets, place-based initiatives, and global research efforts.

Fellows select a focus area based on their interests and expertise, gaining both technical skills and practical experience.

CURRENT WORKSTREAMS

These workstreams operate throughout the year and are at various stages of growth and development.

Fellows are integrated into the workstreams either through a member of a cohort or as an individual, if the interest, talent, and timing all align

  • Objective: Support the design and management of thematic equity portfolios aligned with the UN SDGs.

    Activities:

    • Research and analyze public companies across key SDG themes.

    • Conduct valuation modeling and financial statement review.

    • Pitch investment ideas to the Investment Committee

    Skills Gained: Fundamental analysis, portfolio construction, impact measurement in public markets

  • Objective: Strengthen community-based businesses in Pittsburgh through blended capital strategies.

    Activities:

    • Conduct due diligence on REEF cohort companies.

    • Support investment structuring and valuation analysis.

    • Prepare investment memos and fundraising materials.

    Skills Gained: Private equity fundamentals, place-based finance, ecosystem mapping

  • Objective: Advance food security and climate resilience through growth and innovation funds.

    Activities:

    • Source and screen pipeline companies across the Caribbean

    • Support valuation, structuring, and due diligence.

    • Research investment opportunities and prepare recommendations.

    Skills Gained: Deal sourcing, financial modeling, and regional market research

  • Objective: Design financial tools and strategies to advance reparative justice globally.

    Activities:

    • Research cases of reparations claims and initiatives.

    • Contribute to policy analysis and impact frameworks.

    • Assist with communications and stakeholder engagement.

    Skills Gained: Reparative finance frameworks, policy research, narrative development

  • Objective: Create training resources that advance the practice of intentional investing.

    Activities:

    • Develop training proposals and educational content.
